Packed with easy-to-use mail management features and flexible security controls, PocoMail lets you focus on your e-mail instead of the e-mail client. It can't compete with Outlook 2003's breadth of features, but it does include some unique features even Microsoft could learn from.

The interface is well designed and highly customizable. Attachments are conveniently displayed in a pane next to the message body, and tabbed mailboxes make it easy to organize messages and manage multiple accounts. All these features can be overwhelming. Fortunately, there's the Mini PocoConsole, which lets you switch to a simple interface that shows only the most important information, such as new messages.

Also noteworthy is PocoMail Portable Edition, which runs off  portable media, such as a USB key, letting you securely access your messages from most any PC. When you are back at your system, the device can be synchronized with your PocoMail desktop client.

Removable Media

PocoMail PE will run on almost any type of removable media that Windows assigns a drive letter (e.g. USB-(key/pen)drive, PC Card, miniature drive, or Zip disk. Most of such devices can work without specific drivers on variety of computers.

The review seems to have missed out Pocoscripts great features and given it a poor score for its spam abilities. Given the plethora of great free spam tools that integrate nicely into Pocomail the reviews scoring seems somewhat misleading. Pocomail has a very powerful scripting language called Pocoscript that can be made to perform many tasks that would not otherwise be available (including using 3rd party spam tools). It has its own html rendering engine to avoid exploits/viruses that so commonly affect Outlook. It can 'sanitize' html to prevent accessing remote sites (and so preventing the triggering of web-bugs). It has very powerful filtering, scripting and events control and many many more features making email an enjoyable, fast and safe experience. Finally, in my experience the support both directly from Slaven (the programs author) and from the (extremely active) forums has been exceptional. Five stars all the way!

PocoMail PE is faster, more convenient and much more secure than any of the alternatives for managing e-mail while on the move.

If you simply want to e-mail friends and family while on the move, a web-based e-mail account such as Hotmail or Yahoo Mail is probably all you need. For business travellers who do not need or want to carry a notebook computer but still require secure e-mail access, the combination of PocoMail PE and a USB mini-drive or other portable storage device is worth serious consideration.

1. Consultants and other professionals that carry laptops around only to use it to access email and files from client sites.
2.
